I have never confided in anyone. By being an author I have in a sense made the public my confidant. But in respect of my relation to the public I must, once again, make posterity my confidant. The same people who are there to laugh at one cannot very well be made one's confidant.
– Søren Kierkegaard, Journals (4 November 1847)
I ask: what does it mean when we continue to behave as though all were as it should be, calling ourselves Christians according to the New Testament, when the ideals of the New Testament have gone out of life? The tremendous disproportion which this state of affairs represents has, moreover, been perceived by many. They like to give it this turn: the human race has outgrown Christianity.

| [ | music |
| | Redman - Rite Now | ] | You'll never see me walking alone without my headphones on.
I feel almost untouchable accompanied by the sounds coming through these headphones.
Walk to the rhythm. Heart pumps to the beat. Polyrhythmatic as my feet hit concrete.
Funky, soulful or like chaotic future funk I never go anywhere without my headphones on.
in the arms of mortal sin I begged her, "let me in" her answer, just a grin decisive little whim |

| | Mc 900 ft Jesus - The City Sleeps | ] | Stealing down an ally on a cold dark night I see a halo in the rain around the street light I stop and look, and listen to the sound As the raindrops penetrate the silence all around Alone, I gaze into the glistening street
The distant thunder echoing my heartbeat Urging me on to a secret goal Away from the light from this lamp on a pole So I turn, slip away into the rain Drifting like a spirit through the shadows in the lane Clutching the tools of my trade in my hand An old box of matches and a gasoline can Darkness envelopes the scene like a shroud A veil of emptiness hangs from the clouds Filling up the cracks in this desolate place Cradled by the night in an icy embrace
Moving to the town like a ghost in the rain A dim reflection in a dark window pane Blackness beckons from every side Creeping all around like an incoming tide A broken window in an empty house I slip inside and begin to douse The whole place with the fuel that will feed the fire And push back the night, taking me higher On out of the darkness in a defeaning roar The match in my hand is the key to the door A simple turn of the wrist will suffice To open a passage to paradise I pause, I think about the past and the gloom The smell of gasoline permeates the room Everyone has a little secret he keeps I light the fires while the city sleeps
(Like the 4th of July)
The match makes a graceful arc to the floor And time stands still as I turn for the door Which explodes in a fireball and throws me to the street I hit the ground running with the flames at my feet Reaching for the night which recoils from the fire The raindrops hiss like a devilish choir Dying in the flames with a terrible sound Calling all the names of the sleepers all around But then in the arms of the night, they lay Their dreams sprout wings and fly away Out of the houses in a gathering flock Swarming overhead as I hurry down the block I make my escape with the greatest of ease And savor the darkness, drop to my knees And the lightless window, my hand on the latch I reach in my pocket, and pull out a match
(Like the 4th of July) |

| | Blockhead - Dinner With Blockhead | ] | So my beloved red sox lost today. Curt Schilling had a poor outing, and we lost 7-1.
To make matters worse, my fantasy baseball team is not making any headway today.
However, tomorrow is another day of baseball, except for the sox. They have to wait until wensday. |

| sleep deprived musings. do not take literally |
[Apr. 1st, 2007|01:11 am] |
| [ | music |
| | El-P - Habeas Corpses | ] | I can't sleep anymore. It's like the dark doesn't find me.
I wait for it. I wait for the warm velvety softness to wrap around me, but the silence is indifferent and passes me by.I remember that the velvet doesn't know me anymore, it doesn't want me.
And I think about other ways toget there. Bleeding to death might work. A long as I didn't cut through a major artery the long slide down to unconsciousness would be slow and sweet. Something I could enjoy.
It's a funny thing to dream. Sometimes I dream of going flat line.. Not sure I'd want to go all the way under, but for a minute or two it would be pretty nice to take a look around and then swim back to the surface. |

| [ | mood |
| | Skyscraper Visions | ] |
| [ | music |
| | Sage France - Black Out On White Night | ] | It seems that no matter what is going on in my life, good music can help me cope.
The emotional upheaval through out my life always seems to be accompanied by music. All the great turmoil and loss in my life has a soundtrack. Just as my dreams have a score and my emotions seem to play out in my head with mood music.
One of the main external influences in my entire life has been music.
When the first girl i truly loved died (Fall '96)... I remember her, and hear the music that helped me cope with her passing.
When ever my friends have died, I hold onto the memories I cherish of them in my mind. Those memories will inevitably become linked with the music that allows me to grieve and remember them...
